Welcome to the section of our school website dedicated to reading. Reading is is vital in so many ways to children. Children need to be able to read fluently to access 85% of the Primary School curriculum. Once they have learnt to read, they can read to learn. Reading isn't just about school though. It is a life skill that we need all the time. Words are everywhere around us; on t-shirts, cereal boxes, shop signs. Reading allows us to access information that we need to function. More than that however, reading is one of life's great pleasures. Books fire our imagination, allow us to visit places in our minds, feel emotions that we might not otherwise feel. They also allow us to empathise. The more we empathise, the more we understand the world around us and the people in it.
