Searching for a Superstar!

We are looking to appoint a caring, highly motivated and enthusiastic Teacher to join our dedicated and hardworking team at Ickworth Park Primary School.

Our successful village school, situated opposite Ickworth Park National Trust property and close to Bury St Edmunds Town, has a friendly, community feel. We are linked to the Lark teaching school alliance, offering opportunities for high quality professional development. We are excited to be currently involved in a Teaching Research Group for Maths Mastery. We have a Gold Artsmark Award and value our music and Performing Arts provision.

This post would suit either an experienced teacher or someone at the start of their career who enjoys working in Key Stage 2. We are looking for the right person to join our team.

KS2 Teacher Application form and Job Description

Ickworth Park Primary School

Handy Person, Caretaking and Cleaning

Grade 2

20 hours a week, 44 weeks a year

Working 1.5 hours in the morning, 2.5 hours each afternoon/evening (Monday – Friday)

Permanent

Caretaker and COSHH training is preferred but not essential.

 

Rural School in the village of Horringer close to Ickworth Park. Friendly staff, reasonably tidy children and lovely work environment. We are seeking the right person to support our team, someone who is hands on with a few D.I.Y. skills, who can help keep our school running smoothly and clean and tidy. You will be supported by an experienced cleaner. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.

Duties to include:-

Security

  • Ensure premises are locked/unlocked and secure.
  • Operation of alarms.
  • Ensure lights are turned off and windows are closed.
  • Ensure fire doors are operational and test alarms.
  • May be required to be on call in the event of emergencies.

Site Maintenance

  • Undertake routine building and site maintenance work as required.
  • Liaise as necessary with school staff, contractors and County Architects when other works are required or being undertaken on site.
  • Assist with work involved in refurbishment programmes e.g. decorating, assembly and fitting of shelves, cupboards etc.
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is maintained to the required standard.
  • Ensure all outside services are maintained, including drains, and hard areas.

Caretaking

  • Porterage and transportation of equipment, furniture and materials.
  • Ordering of goods and supplies.
  • Energy conservation.
  • Ensure health and safety regulations are adhered to, reporting any shortcomings to Office Manager / Head Teacher.

Cleaning

  • General cleaning duties as directed and to specification.
  • Keep playground and paths clean and litter free as directed.
  • Undertake cleaning and maintenance during school closures in accordance with specification.

The duties and responsibilities of this post may vary from time to time and the post holder may be expected to undertake other duties of a similar level/nature which is considered appropriate to the level of this post.

To include external lettings locking and unlocking occasionally.

In addition all cleaning duties must be carried out to specification and in accordance with health and safety procedures as follows:

  • Wearing personal protective equipment and clothing e.g. goggles when mixing chemicals and water, rubber gloves.
  • Correct use of colour coded equipment and consumables e.g. cloths, gloves to prevent cross contamination.
  • Safe care and correct use of cleaning chemicals.
  • Use of ‘dirty kit’ in disposing of bodily fluids.
  • In the event of an accident, refer to COSSH data sheet for guidance.
