Important information regarding possibility of closing school

due to severe weather or other circumstances.

The school has to make provision for closing due to severe weather or other circumstances. In the event of very bad weather over night the school may have to be closed. This is a decision which is not taken lightly.  Even if the school is open remember you have the right to keep your child at home if you feel local conditions are dangerous. The final decision is yours and an absence would be counted as authorised.

Notification of school closure will be posted on our website: www.ickworthpark.suffolk.sch.uk

Local radio will be used to inform parents of school closures if the weather has been bad overnight they will provide regular updates on:-

Radio Suffolk (95.5, 95.9, 103.9, or 104.6fm)  and Heart FM (97.1 or 96.4fm)

 Also information will be available on http://schoolclosures.suffolk.gov.uk

 Please realise that the system is not foolproof particularly where conditions may change quickly.

Closing the school during the day

The children may have all arrived at school and the weather deteriorates during the day so that the children have to be sent home early. Initially we will email/text all parents and carers through our Schoolcomms system. In addition if your child travels to school on a bus the contact system arrangements you requested on the recent form will be followed. We will ONLY phone bus contact parents so please ensure that the contact has your telephone number and that you have theirs. Next we will contact parents of bus children who requested that we keep their child in school. If we cannot get hold of the contact we will have to keep the child/ren at school, it would then be your responsibility to collect your child/ren from school as soon as possible.

If you child does not travel by bus you will be contacted as soon as possible by Parentmail first, then by telephone. Please make sure that you keep us up to date of any changes in contact numbers.
